EHS (ElectroHyperSensitivity)
This page will give You a short intro to EHS, its relevance and possible actions.
Besides short info & tips we will give suggestions on where to go next. (Specialized info sites, but also regional/national hubs since this is an international platform.)
What is EHS?
Some terms are "Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity Syndrome" or "electro-sensitivity", and when research increased in Europe in the 1950's it was called "radio wave sickness". But the official unified term is "ElectroHyperSensitivity" (EHS) which should be used when addressing authorities or health professionals.
EHS is a condition resulting from acute/chronic exposure to electrosmog.
Why is EHS important?
For multiple reasons:
• Causes severe symptoms and impairment;
• increases all over the world;
• interaction with the chemical burden in Your body (You are more likely to have EHS if You have MCS, or vice versa);
• difficult to diagnose and most hospitals lack standards or procedures.
A short list of common symptoms:
Headaches, fatigue, weakness, sleep disturbance, irritability, dizziness, memory difficulty, sexual dysfunction, skin rash, hair loss, indigestion, heart problems, shortness of breath, anxiety … and many more … which lead to serious illness if not treated.
Here are guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of EHS
and a questionnaire to help with the diagnos.
What to do?
Luckily there are several things that can be done, but someone who suffers from EHS will probably need help.
Here are some suggestions:
1) Kill the source.
Electrosmog come in the form of Magnetic fields (MF), dirty electricity (DE) or radiation (RF) and are emitted from many different sources in where we live:
MF: All electronic products have MF around them. Computer, washing machine, mobiles, chargers etc.
DE: Occurs when electronics create "transients" or spikes in the flow o felectricity (going through the wires in Your walls to the Your products). The risk increases if Your wiring is not grounded and/or when the electronics are pulsating/switching (ex: chargers, some Solar panels, most "smart" products).
RF: The biggest exposure for most people. Comes from any device that send signals/wireless info (mobile phones, antennae, routers and most "smart" products).
In many cases the simplest action is to pull the plug/power off. (At least kill the Wi-Fi at night)
2) Since we can't turn off everything we instead need to keep a distance, and shield ourselves, from the source. Harmonise Yourself and Your surroundings to boost Your health.*
Read more about Your protection.
3) Report this. An individual that suffers from EHS should inform her doctor (and employer
if needed).
EHS is recognised by some countries and institutions (as "functional impairment") and the symtoms can be classified as an occupationally-related
symptom-based diagnosis (code ICD-10). This means that a subjective symptom of a
functionally impaired can be treated by a physician, and get
sick-leave from their workplace, as well as economic compensation.
Speak out: EHS needs to be commonly known and societies need to adapt and take measures.
Report to the Police, if an EHS-person is discriminated (international law regulates this).
*4) Support: Find a local IRL group to support You in all the above. (See group list below.)
